DrapeCare / Drapery cleaning
On-site drapery & curtain cleaning
We clean drapes and curtains while they hang: vacuum the pleats, treat spots, and clean the face fabric with a low-moisture method chosen after a test. Most rooms take about an hour, nothing comes off the rod, and Orlando homes typically pay $200 to $600.

How a drapery visit goes
Floors and furniture under the drapes get covered before we start.
Read the label and the fabric
Care codes (W, S, WS, X), lining type, fiber, and any sun rot along the leading edges.
Vacuum top to bottom
Most of what dulls a drape is dry dust sitting in the pleats and along the header.
Test, then treat spots
A hidden hem tells us how the dye and fabric behave before we treat water rings or stains.
Clean the face fabric
Low-moisture or dry-solvent cleaning, matched to the fabric, so the lining and face don't shrink apart.
Groom the pleats
Pleats are dressed back into their folds and the hems checked for an even line.
Care codes on drapery fabric
Most drapery and upholstery fabric carries one of these codes. We confirm it with a test either way.
| Code | What it means | How we clean it |
|---|---|---|
| W | Water-based cleaning is safe | Low-moisture cleaning with a fabric-safe rinse |
| S | Solvent only | Dry solvent; no water on the face fabric |
| WS | Water or solvent | Chosen after the dye test |
| X | Vacuum only | Thorough vacuuming and brushing; no liquids |
Drapery questions
Not covered here? Read about humidity, mildew and sun damage, or ask Walt.
Do you have to take my curtains down?
No. We clean them on their rods or tracks, including tall, two-story and motorized drapes. The only time a panel comes down is if you ask, or if hardware is broken.
Which fabrics can you clean in place?
Cotton, linen, polyester and blends, velvet, most silks and silk blends, sheers and casements, and lined or interlined panels. We test each fabric first. Very old silk with sun rot can split under any cleaning, and we'll tell you before we start.
How long until I can use the room?
Most rooms take about an hour, and the drapes are dry to the touch or close to it when we leave. Open a window or run the air and they finish drying within a few hours.
How often should drapes be cleaned?
In most Central Florida homes, every 18 months to two years is plenty. Homes with pets, smokers, a lot of cooking, or drapes near open windows may want once a year. You don't need it every few months, whatever some ads say.
Can you remove water stains or sun fading?
Water rings often come out or lighten a lot. Sun fading is lost dye, so cleaning can brighten the fabric but can't put color back. We'll show you on the test spot what to expect.
Do you clean valances, swags and Roman shades?
Yes. Valances, swags, cornice fabric, tiebacks and fabric Roman shades are cleaned on the same visit.
Send a photo, get a price
Text a photo of each window or rug, plus the care label if you can find it. We reply with a price range and the next open times, usually the same day.
